The private lesson program is offered to all Krum ISD music students in grades 6 – 12. This program is absolutely the most important facet in improving the quality of individual student musicianship and thus, the level of ensemble performance. Parents are strongly encouraged to enroll their children in private lessons in order to facilitate the most improvement and enhance the participation of their students in the band program. The private lesson teachers are highly qualified professionals who are auditioned, interviewed, and approved by the band directors. The specifics of private lessons are:
1. Private lessons are offered to all band students in grades 6 – 12.
2. Lessons may be taught before, during, or after the school day once per week for approximately 30 minutes.
3. Students may be dismissed from a band class to take a private lesson, but may not miss any other class.
4. Lessons will be scheduled to accommodate both the students and the teacher’s schedules.
5. The cost of a private lesson is $22.00 per lesson per week. Group lessons of 2 – 3 students may be offered on a case-by-case basis.
6. Advance payment should be made once per month directly to the private teacher with checks made payable to the private teacher.
7. It is the responsibility of the private teacher to keep accurate records of the transactions and furnish proper receipts to the student.
8. Private lesson teachers must be notified at least 24 hours in advance if a student will be unable to attend their lesson, or the student will be liable for the cost of the lesson.
9. Some private lesson scholarship money may be available.
